17 October 2026

Living Legacy Award for Prof. Ingo Schmidt-Wolf

Prof. Ingo Schmidt-Wolf, Director of the Department of Integrated Oncology at the University Hospital Bonn (UKB), has received the "Living Legacy Award" in recognition of his long-standing research into cancer immunotherapy.

The award was presented during two concurrent international professional events held in Tianjin, China: the 14th National Biotherapy Conference, organized by the China Medicinal Biotech Association (CMBA) – which has approximately 8,000 members – and the 3rd International CIK Cell Conference, hosted by the International Society of CIK Cells (ISCC). The honor specifically recognizes his contributions to the research of so-called cytokine-induced killer (CIK) cells.

These immune cells are capable of identifying and destroying tumor cells and are used in cancer treatment worldwide. Furthermore, his commitment to fostering international collaboration in the field of cellular immunotherapy was highlighted.
